Boundless Festival 2023
Writers of Colour Write Nature

website slider.png

Join Bankstown Arts Centre and Writing NSW for the last Boundless Festival event for 2023.

Do you have to be an authority on nature to write about it? What are the intersections of nature writing with race, colonialism and the immigrant experience?

Women writers of colour Zohra Aly, Kavita Bedford and Uthpala Gunethilake converse with academic Sujatha Fernandes to discuss their essays on nature, which were published in Island’s Nature Writing Project, and reflect on what it means to carve out a space for themselves in the predominantly white, male-dominated landscape of nature writing.

Writers of Colour Write Nature is curated by Zohra Aly, one of our emerging curators for this year’s Boundless festival.
