Provide opportunities for a cosmopolitan, vibrant and dynamic City. Pursue Smart City innovations. Promote long term economic and employment growth. Provide and promote artistic and cultural opportunities.
For me, this area is about economic opportunity. I'm studying 3D carpentry at the Chullora Innovation Precinct, whilst working as an apprentice carpenter for a local, family–run business.
I'm planning my own start-up trade business as there is plenty of work. The mini boom of the last ten years has helped local firms grow and innovate. People feel confident opening their own enterprise.
Going to uni or college after high school has become the norm, and it's easier to find good local jobs.
It feels like the City has transformed, especially the CBD. It's both commercial and cosmopolitan but hasn't lost its community feel. Eating out is a highlight with a fusion of worldly flavours at our fingertips.
When we want to know what's going on, or open late, we just use our apps. I am connected socially and professionally and I feel in-the-know about news, events and business opportunities. Getting around is easy too.
Our public transport system is improving and we have the best sharing economy. Organising a ride when I don't feel like driving is a breeze.
With NBN and 5G now integrated, I study and work from lots of different locations within the City. I make use of the co-working hubs that have popped up in recent years and my network of contacts and collaborators has expanded considerably.
I regularly meet friends after work at one of the many bars or cafes. The City is a hub for arts and culture with shows at the Bryan Brown Theatre, live music at the Arts Centre, and local street art and festivals.
Talent attracting, business-friendly, Smart, a destination, cosmopolitan, full of art and culture, great for shopping, great for eating and drinking, able to connect people with local training and employment opportunities through transport systems, fun, happy, vibrant.
