Padstow Library invites you to join the Chinese Friendship Group, a monthly gathering where you can build and make new friendships. Every gathering helps to enhance mutual understanding, with activities including interactive games, health lectures, author speeches, English learning, festival celebrations, and much more!

Health and Wellbeing Sessions 
Campsie Library will be holding weekly Health and Wellbeing sessions in Mandarin during term time. Each session will help you learn about enhancing your health through training, covering various aspects of correcting body posture, walking and physical fitness through music. Author Talk in Mandarin: writing from the perspective of an Australian citizen

​Join us for an author talk from Mr Aolie Zhang as he shares his Australian writing journey.
Mr Zhang will share his transformation from the early stages of his migration to Australia, from how he saw Australia from a Chinese perspective to how he now sees the world through Australian values. Mr Zhang will also talk about the feeling of marginalisation and the difficulties of writing in a non-native language, as well as how he finds joy and inspiration in these challenges.
Light refreshment will be provided.

欢迎参加张奥列先生的作者会谈——公民意识的书写,他将分享他在澳洲的写作经历。
从1999年出版的《澳华文人百态》到2016年的《澳华文学史迹》,张奥列先生从多元的角度呈现了澳洲华文文学的发展状态,为澳华文坛留下早期的史料。他将深入探讨个人创作中的观察角度、思维方式以及文化认知的演变过程。从早期以中国人的视角观察澳洲,到后来融入主流社会并以澳洲的价值观看世界,张奥列将分享这一思想转变的历程。他还将探讨在澳洲写作中所面临的边缘感和非母语环境的挑战,以及如何在这些挑战中找到创作的乐趣和灵感。
与会者将有机会深入了解张先生的创作心路,探讨多元文化对创作的影响,以及文学创作中的跨文化交流与交融。

Health and wellbeing talk in Mandarin
Join us for a health and wellbeing talk in Mandarin. In partnership with the New South Wales Chinese Women's Association, the Australia-Chinese Medical Centre a collaboration between Western Sydney University and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The talk will be co-presented by adademics from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine who are taking part in an academic exchange at Western Sydney University Chinese Medicine Centre.
The talk will cover:
  • Sculpting serenity: the equilibrium between yin and yang by Professor Baixiao Zhao
  • Abiding by the biological clock for general wellbeing by Associate Professor Lepeng Wang
  • Ba Duan Jin Performance: Harmony in motion – the art of Ba Duan Jin
Participants will have the opportunity to experience making herbal sachets and Chinese massage therapy.
