A new initiative is providing Canterbury-Bankstown community members with a silver lining during lockdown.
Stay Safe, Stay Connected is a new campaign aimed at spreading positivity and inspiration, by providing the community with new weekly challenges to keep households entertained at home.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said it is a one-stop-shop for community members to not only find links to new activities with weekly prizes up to $250 up for grabs – it’s also a way for people to stay engaged with Council’s services and one another.
“It’s a difficult time for many and we’ve got resources, such as our Emergency Relief Directory or a guide to low-cost and free meals, that can make this period easier for many,” Mayor Asfour said.
It’s also a way to connect with other local support networks, and simply find the latest NSW Health updates when daily updates may be confusing.
“My priority is for my community’s health, safety and wellbeing, so we’ve created the Stay Safe, Stay Connected e-newsletter to give them ideas and ways to do exactly that: stay safe and stay connected,” Mayor Asfour said.
“I’d encourage everyone to sign up to the e-newsletter, whether you’re the creative type or like to be active, enjoy cooking, engaging with others online or are just keen to try something new in lockdown.
“You’re bound to have some fun with these challenges and potentially win a great prize along the way.”
By signing up and taking part in the weekly challenges, participants will also go in monthly draws to win an iPad or laptop.
“With the challenges of remote learning, or not having enough devices for everyone to use at home, sharing this new initiative with your friends or family is a simple way to battle the stay-at-home lockdown blues, and help all of us get through this together.”
