Canterbury-Bankstown residents are being encouraged to power their homes with green energy that comes straight from wind and solar farms.
Council has joined a number of Sydney councils to promote GreenPower – a government accredited and audited green energy program.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the program provide sustainable energy alternatives to homeowners and renters alike, especially those who cannot install solar panels.
“Switching to a 100 per cent accredited GreenPower electricity plan is the best thing you can do for our planet,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“It’s your fastest way to go renewable, especially if you rent or live in an apartment. “You can switch your electricity plan to a GreenPower accredited plan if you rent, own, live in an apartment, house or run a business.” GreenPower electricity plans are available through more than ten energy providers in Sydney and residents are able to switch to a GreenPower plan in as little as 10 minutes.
“Many electricity companies are pushing their customers to sign up to a carbon neutral plan… but a GreenPower accredited plan is a much better option,” Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said.
“GreenPower electricity plans guarantees investment in more renewable energy, like wind and solar farms. It’s one of easiest ways you can reduce dirty emissions.”
