The HSC has officially started, but there’s still last minute study help for local students available at CBCity’s Library and Knowledge Centres.
Late night study sessions will be held from 8-10pm at Bankstown on Wednesday 23 and Wednesday 30 October, and at Campsie on Thursday 24 and Thursday 31 October. Students will have access to free food, tutoring, online resources, and health and wellbeing activities, at all sessions.
One of the tutors for the sessions, Johnny Marzini, encouraged students to make the most of the study assistance before exams conclude on Friday 1 November.
"There’s always a page you can read that will get you a mark and, in the HSC, a extra mark can go a long way," he said.
"For last minute preparations, we can do a crash course looking at the syllabus of a subject and finding answers to the most likely exam questions.
"The sessions are all very tailored to the students and target their weaknesses, rather than their strengths, to improve their chances of getting the best result possible."
Mayor Khal Asfour said dozens of students have usedthe study assistance sessions to their benefit in recent years.
"While for most of us this is just another week, for our City’s Year 12 students it is an important time of their lives," he said.
"The next few weeks will be stressful for a lot of youth, but I hope they use the resources that are freely available to ease the pressure during this time.
"But if you’re a student, please remember, whatever your results, nothing can stop you from pursuing what you want to do after school. Where there is a will, there is always a way."
Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre is offering private study rooms for students, as well as spaces with smart boards and smart tables for group study.
Students can also access HSC collections at their local library, which include Excel study guides.
