Council staff and NSW Police will be visiting neighbourhoods throughout Canterbury-Bankstown to chat with residents about local crime prevention initiatives.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said Council’s Community Safety Outreach Sessions help link residents and workers with safety and crime prevention services available to them.
"It is important that we engage with our community to ensure they are aware of the services available to them and how to access them," he said.
"We need to continue working together so we can achieve our shared goals of community safety."
The year-round service, which runs throughout Canterbury-Bankstown, aims to connect community members to local services and programs.
When looking at five-year trends for Canterbury-Bankstown, crime statistics have predominantly remained stable or shown a downward trend, as well as being under the NSW state averages for a variety of criminal offences.
“That's because the community has come together to create a safer place for everyone, and Council is proud to be part of this success story,” Mayor Asfour said.
The next Community Safety Outreach Session will be at Roselands Shopping Centre on Wednesday 26 April, 10am-1pm.
