Children in the City of Canterbury Bankstown are in for a treat with the recently completed upgrades to three playgrounds, and all just in time for summer.
Earlwood Oval playground and Punchbowl’s Arthur Park have been given a makeover, while Bankstown’s R.M. Campbell Reserve has seen the installation of brand-new exercise equipment so parents can join in the fun too.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said Council has been working hard to upgrade play spaces throughout the City for all the community to enjoy.
“The unique play equipment caters to a broad range of ages and abilities,” Mayor Asfour said.
“There’s something for every kid… and every big kid at heart! I’m so excited to see the community take full advantage of these fantastic new facilities.”
Earlwood Oval playground, Earlwood, has some great new facilities including a play tower, coconut swing and a half basketball court.
“It’s a great outdoor space for the little ones and those just wanting to shoot a few hoops,” Mayor Asfour said.
“The oval is also being upgraded and I look forward to seeing the football and cricket community enjoy it when it opens early next year.”
Arthur Park in Punchbowl has gone from concrete to colour with a new and improved basketball court, climbing web, ping pong table and in ground trampoline.
“Council has slam dunked the new amenities at Arthur Park, they’re sure to bring hours of fun to kids young and old,” Mayor Asfour said.
Upgrades to R.M. Campbell Reserve in Bankstown include a new outdoor gym and a much-needed refresh to the pedestrian bridge.
“There’s all the equipment you need for your daily workout and the bridge creates a pleasant walk for visitors and passers-by – it’s the perfect place to stay fit and healthy!” Mayor Asfour said.
Mayor Asfour added that the playgrounds are now open and free for the community to enjoy.
“While Council will be doing all it can to maintain the facilities, I hope that everyone does their bit to help look after these beautiful spaces.”To see what facilities are available at your local park and sporting field, visit
