The City of Canterbury Bankstown’s annual Children and Youth Awards are accepting nominations to recognise the valuable contributions that young people make to our City.
The awards are open to school children in Years 3-6 and all young people aged 12-18 years old who live, work or study in Canterbury-Bankstown. Children and young people can be nominated or nominate themselves across eight different categories including:
Mayor Khal Asfour said he’s thrilled to see the achievements of local children and youth recognised.
“With their wonderful talent, dedication and inspiring perspectives, young people play such an important role in our community,” Mayor Asfour said.
“And from online learning, to being separated from friends and family, young people have shown incredible resilience throughout this lockdown. It’s important that we celebrate and recognise them.”
Daliya, 16, is an outstanding example of a young person in CBCity who is passionate about helping others and making positive change.
The new school captain is an inspiration and role model to her peers, and loves giving her time to volunteer in the community. She's been actively involved with a number of organisations, such as OzHarvest and Lighthouse.
“I want to use up as much time as I have to giving back and helping those who need it most,” Daliya said.Daliya received the All-Rounder award in our 2020 Children and Youth Awards, for her commitment to doing her best, her strong leadership skills and the valuable contributions she makes to the community.
“I was ecstatic when I won the award! I was so happy to know that I am making an impact on my school and my community,” she said
