Australian Survivor runner up George Mladenov, has revealed how living in Bankstown helped him make it through to the finals.
In a tell-all interview for Council’s community newsletter, Keep Connected, he also spoke about his fond love of the City and has dropped a hint about his next new exciting television project.
Mladenov survived 48 days in the harsh Queensland outback, enduring hot days and freezing nights as he outlasted the competition getting down to the final two of the show’s eighth season.
During his time in the outback he was isolated from family and friends, and unaware of just how tough it was back home in Canterbury-Bankstown.
“I came back in the midst of a global pandemic that I didn’t realise just how bad it was. I came back to a locked down community… very harsh restrictions here, but we got through it,” Mladenov said.
“Our community is fantastic, we look out for each other and we were there for each other during the tough times, but now Bankstown is open again and it’s time to get back to business.”
Mladenov’s interview features in this month’s special digital edition of the newsletter, which helps residents stay connected and be inspired after lock down restrictions were eased.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said this edition of Keep Connected was all about reconnecting with each other and bouncing back after the lock down.
“And how inspiring is it to have George being interviewed and advocating for our community,” Mayor Asfour said.
“In this edition, I share a special ‘thank you’ to our community for staying strong during the recent lockdown.”
