Being in the moment, present and remaining grounded!
That’s what the City of Canterbury Bankstown is encouraging community members to do by offering a range of activities this Mental Health Month.
During the month of October, mental health organisations have adopted the theme Tune In so we can reconnect with ourselves and others.
“Mental health lies at the core of who we are as people and Mental Health Month in CBCity is about giving you and me the chance to engage and discuss ideas that positively impact our daily lives, and the lives of all those around us,” Mayor Khal Asfour said.
“The goal is to help us all tune in to ourselves and realise what’s really going on. We should tune in to others, tune in to our community and tune in to the stigma, so the benefit of boosting mental health awareness has a lasting ripple effect throughout our community.”
Free activities range from educational workshops that will help people build greater resilience, emotional wellbeing and healthier minds, to cool activities such as zumba for seniors, online escape rooms and helpful parenting and carers’ forums with loads of tips.
“Our Mental Health Month program offers people of all ages and abilities something fun to do from their homes,” Mayor Asfour said.
“It also highlights exciting events and programs that already exist in Council, such as our Community Safety campaign.
“I’d encourage everyone to tune in and participate to take control of their mental health today.”
