Junior clay club: Clay Crown


Join ceramicist Elsa Jara in creating your own clay crown to inspire empowerment!
Students will be taught in a step-by-step demonstration with guidance and basic hand building techniques. Materials provided by Bankstown Arts Centre.
Week 1: Learn different hand building techniques using clay.
Week 2: Paint and decorate your clay creation after it’s been fired in the kiln.
  • When: Tuesdays 16 April and Tuesday 23 April, 10am-noon (Two sessions)

  • Ages: 5-8 years

Teens Ceramics intensive!



Come to to BAC and learn about ceramics and the basic techniques of sculptures with ceramicist Machiko Motoi. Participants will creatively explore their own ideas, research ceramic skills and create their own ceramic work in a two day intensive workshop series!

    Day 2: Thursday 18 April, 1-4pm

Emily Who & the Sydney Symphony Sing And Move to the Music

Don’t miss Emily Who and the Sydney Symphony as they return to Bankstown for some more fun adventures with music.
In this 30-minute concert, Emily and a string quartet of musicians from the Sydney Symphony will take kids through a magical world of music, exploring the sounds of string instruments and how they work together as you sing and move along to the music.
This interactive concert experience has been especially created for young people 5 and under but is fun for people of all ages – and their families. Discover a world of sounds through the violin, viola and cello!
  • When: Thursday 18 April, 10.30-11am

  • Ages: 0-5 years with parents

Paint a self-expression portrait!




Learn how to paint your own self portrait with paint and canvas. Using your own picture as a guide, our facilitator will intruct you how to draw your face and then paint. Participants will be able to keep their paintings as a keepsake!

  • When: Wednesday 24 April, 10am-2pm
  • Where: Bankstown Arts Centre, 5 Olympic Parade
  • Ages: 10-15 years
  • Cost: $60 per person, $10 with Creative Kids Voucher (eventbrite fee included)

Performances

Parental supervision

Because our school holiday performances are public events, adult supervision is required for audience 15 years and under. Please book enough tickets for you and your child/children.

What if I can no longer make it to the performance?

Our school holiday program is extremely popular, we kindly ask that you only register if you are confident you can attend. We understand that at times, circumstances change unexpectedly. If you cannot attend and need to cancel your ticket(s), please inform us at artscentre@cbcity.nsw.gov.au as soon as possible so that we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.

Limited AT THE DOOR tickets will be released subject to availabilities.

Workshops

During holiday workshops

Wear comfortable clothes and enclosed shoes

Bring a bottle of water; snack is optional (no nut products)

For parents/guardians - drop off your child in the workshop classroom five mins before the commencement of class and pick up your child at the end of the workshop. We do not provide childminding after the class.

We do not allow adults present at the workshop apart from our facilitator for WHS safety reasons. You are welcome to wait outside the classroom until the conclusion of the workshop

Bankstown Arts Centre advises parents that the students will be working with clay and paint that is difficult to remove from clothes, please wear suitable clothing for painting activities.​​

Student Conduct

Students attending classes will follow the rules of the Centre and the instructions of the teacher or other staff.

Students will not interfere with the work of others and will not behave in ways that present risks to the safety of themselves or others.

Students who present a risk to others or themselves through repeated inappropriate behaviour may be refused enrolment.

If children do not follow the rules or repeated requests from teachers or other staff to behave in an appropriate manner, parents will be contacted to collect their child from the Centre.

General Information

Access information

Entry to Bankstown Arts Centre is via the front of the building at Dale Parade. Visitors with restricted mobility can use all public spaces at the Arts Centre. Disabled parking is also available at the Olympic Parade car park.

Incubate Artists Studios is within one minute walking-distance from Bankstown Station and Bus Interchange and features a wheelchair ramp and lifts.

Public transport

Bankstown Arts Centre is within five minutes walking distance from Bankstown Train Station and Bus Interchange! It is by far the easiest and most advisable way to get to the Arts Centre.  We recommend that you plan your trip in advance if taking public transportation. Visit transportnsw.info for information on train and bus schedules.

Parking at the precinct

Parking is very limited at the Arts Centre precinct. Participants are suggested to use public transport wherever possible. Limited free 4-hours (4P) parking and accessible parking is available at the community carpark located on Olympic Parade. Contact us on 9707 5400 if you require accessibility arrangements.

Bookings for specific events and activities will be available approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the school holidays. Please book online at cb.city/artscentreevents​

Refunds

Fees are non-refundable, and there are no transfers or refunds if you miss the workshop or performance.​​​
